Studyisland Assignment #9 Ecosystems

3/13

Energy Quiz

1.   Demonstrate knowledge on a quiz: Photosynthesis: 6CO2 + 6H2O+ Sun --->C6H12O6 + 6 O2- & reverse for Respiration- determine exothermic or endothermic, reactants, products, whether producers or consumers do process- and where in cell it takes place (mitochondria or chloroplast) & Energy Transfer

2.Inquire into where food energy comes from by processing data from a hypothetical experiment to discover the conditions under which plants add biomass:Food Producers Experiment

3. Read Life Science Text p. 690-708 Complete p.36.Overview: Interactions of Life/Living Earth- Populations

36 Overview: Interactions of Life/Living Earth- Populations

Studyisland Assignment #9 Ecosystems

3/14

Life in a Community

1. Add vocabulary to notebook: Populations and Ecosystems Vocabulary 1-8 to understand the roles within an ecosystem and the possible limits and adaptations organisms make in order to survive

2. Reading: Populations and Ecosystems: Life in a Community:p.6-7 Answer Think Questions in Journal

3. Read p. 64-68 Miniecosystems create charts to keep track of the organisms that are in the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, their food sources, and potential predators and  observe changes in terrestrial & aquatic Mini-ecosystems

NJCCCS 5.1  & 5.3

19. Food Producers

20. Ecosystem Card- Sort Results/  Mini-ecosystem Needs

Read Life Science Text p. 690-708 Complete p.36.Overview: Interactions of Life/Living Earth- Populations

Studyisland Assignment #9 Ecosystems

3/15

Mini- Ecosystems

1. Set up terrestrial, aquatic, and milkweed bug habitats- Prepare aquatic and terrestrial habitats for the different organisms, worms, isopods, grasses, guppies, daphnia, duckweed, Tubiflex worms, snails

2. Research the what the organisms to and their predators to understand the dynamics of the food web within the ecosystem
